Partially Hydrogenated Oil: Trans Fat In Disguise

You may be eating trans fat every day without knowing it. When a product contains less than 1 percent of trans fat, they can go ahead and mark 0% trans fat on the label, which is obviously a lie. Not fair? Life is far from being fair. Check the ingredients carefully.

If you see listed in the ingredients "partially hydrogenated oil", you can bet there is some trans fat in your snack. Let's do the math. You are sitting eating out of a bag of chips. It contains .45 grams of trans fat per serving. You end up eating about 30 chips, which is 3 servings. You have just eaten 1.35 grams of trans fat in one sitting. Do you do this every day or a few times a week? Every time you do, you are adding to the fat on your body.

Why is trans fat so bad?
  • Increases risk for heart disease
  • Raises bad cholesterol
  • Lowers good cholesterol
And worst of all: Your body cannot metabolize trans fat. If you cannot metabolize trans fat, where do you think it ends up? Perhaps your hips, maybe your butt, or it could be adding to your muffin top.

Add essential fatty acids to your diet and take away partially hydrogenated oil aka trans fat.
