Chickweed Side Effects

Just like any other herb, chickweed may have side effects that you should be aware of. The only known side effects of chickweed occur when people take too much of the herb. Now, I'm not sure why someone would purposefully overdose on an herb, but there have been cases. Here are some things that will happen to you if you take more than the recommended dosage:
  • diarrhea and vomiting
  • nitrate poisoning
Symptoms of nitrate poisoning include:
  • blue fingers and lips
  • weakness
  • dizziness
  • fainting
  • headache
Chickweed is a safe herb when you take the recommended dosage. Do not abuse this herb or you will most likely suffer some consequences.

If you tend to be allergic to daisies, you may have an allergy to chickweed. If you experience symptoms of an allergic reaction, seek help.

If you are pregnant or nursing, always consult your physician before adding herbal remedies to your daily routine. There have not been enough studies conducted to know if this herb is safe for women who are pregnant and nursing.
