Pomegranate Side Effects

Pomegranate is a great super fruit that is said to have many benefits including helping you lose weight. However, pomegranate may cause some side effects in certain people. You should know about the side effects of all supplements before consuming them.

Pomegranate juice has not been linked to any side effects. This is not to say that you won't experience any, but side effects are not common with pomegranate juice.

It is possible to be allergic to pomegranate and some people have had allergic reactions to pomegranate. If you experience any allergy symptoms, stop use of pomegranate products. You may be allergic if you experience swelling, itchy eyes, etc.

When pomegranate is applied to the skin, you may experience side effects that are similar to an allergic reaction. However, for our purposes, we are not discussing pomegranate applied to the skin, but instead we are discussing pomegranate weight loss products.

Pomegranate stems and roots are not to be ingested. They are dangerous. Pomegranate supplements will contain pomegranate extract and seeds, but should not contain roots and stems of the plant.

If you want to use pomegranate products during pregnancy and nursing, it is best to use pomegranate juice. Not enough is known about pregnancy and pomegranate extract.

If you are taking a pomegranate weight loss supplement such as Super Slim Pomegranate Capsules, these are not regulated products. They are not standardized and they may contain added ingredients. These pills have been know to cause dry mouth, headaches, extreme lack of appetite, dizziness, nausea, and the list goes on. They may possibly contain Sibutramine. I do not suggest use of these products. Use a standardized pomegranate extract instead. One can be found for $5 at swansonvitamins.com.
