Softee Coconut Oil Review

About the product

I've been reading about coconut oil and the benefits when it comes to hair health and growth. I was looking for a product to try out and I found this Softee Coconut Oil Hair & Scalp Conditioner. It turns out that this product isn't coconut oil at all. It's really just petroleum that smells like artificial coconuts. It doesn't even smell like real coconut oil or real coconuts.

A great way to tell that this product isn't coconut oil (besides looking at the ingredients list) is that it's texture is the same even if you put it in the refrigerator. Coconut oil hardens when it gets cold. It looks pretty much like the inside of a coconut. It gets really white and solid.

The ingredients

When you turn it around the first ingredient of Softee coconut oil is petrolatum. It contains mostly this ingredient with very few oils that are good for hair. In fact here is a list of ingredients:
  • Petrolatum
  • Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil
  • Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil
  • Paraffin
  • Mineral Oil
  • Fragrance
  • BHT

What this means for you is that you are using a very heavy, waxy oil. It's not like virgin unrefined coconut oil. It doesn't just soak up into the hair all nice and everything. It's very heavy. This oil should be used differently than virgin coconut oil.

Don't be fooled by the front of the product which tells you it's "Pure coconut oil". Real unrefined virgin coconut oil can be bought for the same cost as this stuff, so you're better off using it instead. It doesn't clog pores, it soaks into the hair, and makes the hair thicker and grow faster. Indian women use it on their hair for a reason.

Softee coconut oil is really only good for if you want some petroleum that smells good. It's certainly not something that anyone should put in their hair. Go with real oils that you can cook with. If you can eat it, it's ingredients are pure and safe enough for your hair. If you can't eat it, likely it's not good for your hair because it has chemicals and it's not natural.

If you're looking for coconut oil that will be great for your hair, make sure it's unrefined. It will specify whether it's refined or unrefined on the label.

Herbs For Strong, Healthy Hair

Vitamins and herbs for strong, healthy hair

Everyone wants beautiful hair. Those commercials will show you that it's what you put ON your hair that will make it more healthy. You can take herbs and vitamins to make your hair more healthy also. If you are trying to grow your hair out, or if you just want strong, beautiful hair, NaturalNews has a list of good vitamins and herbs for your hair.

Biotin. Biotin is well known to make your hair strong and help your hair grow. It stimulates hair growth and makes the hair thicker and less susceptible to damage. It is one of the B vitamins.

Other B Vitamins. There are also many other B vitamins that help make your hair more healthy. When B5 is placed on the hair cuticle, it's able to help the hair cuticle become thicker in diameter. Another important B vitamin is B12. If you haven't been getting enough B12, your hair's growth will slow down. In order to make your hair grow again, you should get enough B12.

Vitamins A, C, and E. These are also vitamins that are important for hair health. These nutrients help make sure your hair is growing to it's fullest potential.

Horsetail. Horsetail is a great herb for hair growth. It contains silica which makes the hair very strong.

Rosemary. If you tend to have excessive grease, or sebum, on your scalp, in some cases it can actually inhibit hair growth. Rosemary when applied to the scalp can remove the excess sebum.

Hops. Hops also contains silica. It is a great natural conditioner for strong hair.

Siloca. Siloca helps to prevent breakage. If you are prone to damaged hair, this may be a good herb for you to use.

If you want longer, healthier, stronger, and thicker hair using any one of these herbs will help greatly. Combining these herbs is also allowed. You can usually find a hair, skin, and nails combination that will have many of these ingredients in it for your hair. People often report having more hair growth when taking those supplements.

Sea Kelp and Hair Growth

A kelp supplement can be used to thicken the hair and make it grow faster. Many people have tried kelp supplements for hair growth with great success. Kelp supplements are very affordable for those who take them daily.

If you suspect that you have an under active thyroid, you may want to try kelp. Your hair could have become thin because of your poor thyroid condition. Kelp can help regulate the thyroid and your hair will become thicker and begin growing more than before.

Find the most affordable kelp supplement for your metabolic needs. Kelp can help your thyroid function normalize and you will also notice some weight loss when taking kelp. You should feel more healthy and have more energy.

If you don't need a kelp supplement, be careful of taking it. If you take kelp and do not benefit from it, then you may not have to take it. However, if you take kelp and your overall health is better, you know what your problem was and you have fixed it with kelp.

Chamomile Tea Hair Dye #2

The first time I dyed my hair with chamomile, 4 people noticed without me saying a word about it. I counted it as being pretty successful. My hair started looking slightly dull again, so I decided to do it again.

Chamomile is an effective way to lighten hair that is already somewhat blonde. I think I've pretty much proven this. Some people say it's not true, but my results don't lie. I'm never going to buy box hair dye again. It's bad for your hair. Chamomile tea does the exact opposite. It actually conditions your hair and you can dye it as often as you want because it's not harmful. So if you want to go really light golden, you can do it each day until you reach that color.

I love this new method of lightening my hair. It gives it such a beautiful golden look. I'm never going back.

Apple Cider Vinegar For Hair

Apple cider vinegar is great for weight loss, but there are also many benefits to applying apple cider vinegar to your hair. This natural conditioner can have your hair looking more healthy than ever before.

What exactly does apple cider vinegar do for hair?
  • cleans the hair
  • makes your hair thicker
  • conditions the hair
  • stops hair loss
  • gets rid of dandruff
  • makes hair shiny
  • prevents frizz
  • strengthens hair

When applied to your roots, it will cause hair to grow out more thick. You should see results in a few months. Your hair will grow stronger and thicker with each month and you will be glad you chose to use apple cider vinegar.

Apple cider vinegar helps your hair cuticle to lay flat which significantly reduces breakage and split ends. It removes build up from harsh shampoos. It also balances the pH of your hair.

How to make apple cider vinegar hair rinse.
  1. Get an empty bottle
  2. Pour in a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
  3. Now pour in a cup of water
  4. Now you have your own apple cider vinegar hair rinse.

You should apply this to your scalp in place of a regular conditioner. The longer you leave it on your hair, the more it will condition and strengthen your hair. If you have damaged hair, this is one of the best things you can do for your hair. You will need to repair the damage so that your hair is healthy and growing.

Stop Shampooing: How To 'No Poo'

I recently came across an idea to stop shampooing to get more healthy hair. I had never heard of this before and it sounded gross, especially since I can't go 24 hours without shampoo unless I want my head looking like I swam in a Jack in the Box taco.

The idea is that our hair isn't even meant to be shampooed, that the excess oil our scalp produces is only there BECAUSE we shampoo, and that the harmful chemicals in shampoo are absorbed into our scalp and blood stream. Also, when you shampoo, your hair gets more damaged and has a harder time growing.

Basically what happens is that you stop shampooing and you start using natural hair cleansers instead. Your hair will have an adjustment phase where it finds a balance of oils (called the icky phase) and once your oils are balanced, you are good to go. You will have nice clean hair that doesn't need shampoo anymore.

I guess you can lessen the adjustment phase by slowing incorporating this new method into your life. The slower you progress into "no poo", the less of a dramatic reaction you get, until you can finally stop shampooing altogether. First you may shampoo every other day and use a natural cleanser on the off days, slowly working it into your life.

I want to share with you what other people do instead of using shampoo.

Baking soda. Many people just use baking soda instead of shampoo. Take an empty bottle. Put one tablespoon of baking soda in the bottle. Add one cup of water. Now use this in place of shampoo. If you try this and your hair becomes too dry, use apple cider vinegar.

Herbal tea. Some people use an herbal tea rinse on their hair to make it softer, more shiny, and repair damage. It's a great natural conditioner.

Lemon juice. If your hair is really oily (which it will be during the transitional phase), try using pure lemon juice or lime juice to get rid of the greasy hair.

Coconut oil. Coconut oil can be used on just the ends to replace conditioner.

If you want to see pictures of how the "no poo" progression works, click here. This person shows week by week how their hair adjusted from extremely oily to completely normal. Your hair won't be this oily if you use natural hair cleansers and lemon juice. This person just went almost cold turkey.

6 Tips To Get Long Hair

Long hair doesn't come over night. It takes work, patience, and dedication to grow long hair that is also healthy. It's all about preventing damage to the hair shaft. If there is damage, your hair will not grow. Here are some tips for people who have a hard time growing their hair long.

Be gentle on wet hair. Hair is most vulnerable when wet. It's easy to tug and pull on stubborn knots after you wash your hair, but this will damage your hair. Instead, you should be patient with knots and if you have to, use a detangler.

Wash sparingly. Washing your hair dries it out and can leave it vulnerable to breakage. Try to cut down on washing if you can. Use only conditioner. Sometimes this is enough to get the surface dirt off of your hair.

Apply coconut oil. Coconut oil is the only oil that can penetrate your hair shaft, so it should be your number one choice when it comes to deep conditioning. It gives you the deepest condition possible. Apply coconut oil to your hair every so often to help strengthen it.

Hair, skin, nail vitamins. These really do help strengthen your hair. Give it a try if you are skeptical. It will make you a believer.

Stop damage in it's tracks. Even if you are doing everything possible to prevent damage, it may still occur. Get some hair cutting scissors and sit in a well-lit room. Clip off the split ends individually. This allows for you to avoid getting a trim, but also get rid of the damaged hair.

Tea for your hair. Dip the ends of your hair in catnip tea. It sounds weird, but it mends them right up. Those who want a golden yellow glow for their hair may try chamomile tea as a conditioner.

Chamomile Tea Hair Dye: Before and After

I had heard that chamomile tea can lighten your hair, so I wanted to try it out. (photos below).

First of all, some information about my hair: it's blonde with red tint (more blonde than red). It tends to dull in the fall and winter and brighten in the spring and summer. It's fine and thin. It has some damage on the ends.

My goal was to brighten my hair, hopefully at least 2 shades which is about how much store bought color brightens my hair. I wanted to do it without the bad chemicals though.

I read different methods online of how to do this. Most of them said to make the tea as usual, bend over and pour the tea over your hair several times, catching it each time. This sounded very neck breaking to me, so I made up my own thing.

I boiled some water in a pot on the stove, about two cups. After the water became hot, I put the tea bag in. I let it sit there steeping for 30 minutes, stirring it occasionally to get the chamomile color nice and golden. By the end of the 30 minutes, the water should look similar to your pee in the morning.

At the end of the 30 minutes, I put the pot on the counter to cool off. I waited for the chamomile tea to become room temperature. Once it was, I squeezed the tea bag a few more times just to get all the juice out, then I put it in the trash.

I took the pot to the bathroom and got a wash cloth. I leaned over the sink, dipped the wash cloth in the chamomile tea, and squeezed it into my hair. I did this until all of my hair was soaked through. I placed the wash cloth on the top of my head and I got a plastic walmart bag. With my hair still dripping, I put the walmart bag over my whole head and used the handles to tie it at my forehead.

I left it on my head for a total of an hour and thirty minutes. I don't know how long you should leave it on. This is just what I chose to do. After that, I washed it as usual, combed it, and let it air dry as usual. When I combed my hair, there wasn't a single tangle! I couldn't even believe it.

My hair is more shiny, more healthy, and lighter. Don't listen to anyone who says you can't dye your hair with tea. It's not completely blonde, but it is about 2 shades lighter now which is the most you can do without bleaching your hair. It's more manageable and feels more healthy. It only took a couple of hours and one tea bag.

I had no idea it would do this but it left my hair with less split ends too. In the first photo, my hair is so damaged and in the second one it's much more healthy. I got 30 tea bags for $1, so that's 30 hair treatments. What a deal. I'm probably going to do it again tomorrow just to lighten it some more.

As you can see the hair is more blonde and conditioned. You can hardly tell there is any damage. The results are amazing especially since chamomile is so cheap to buy.

Dye Your Hair Using Herbs

You can actually dye your hair using herbs instead of using harsh chemicals which fry your hair and leave it damaged. There are plenty of natural alternatives that you can begin using today. If you want to ditch the salon for good, continue reading to find out how to dye your hair naturally.

Lemon juice. If you want to naturally lighten your hair, use lemon juice. Because lemon juice tends to dry hair out, you may want to mix water and lemon juice in a spray bottle and spray it on your hair. Just spray the surface of your hair with this mixture and then let it dry in the sun. You should notice lighter hair soon, but it won't be immediately.

Chamomile tea. You can also lighten your hair with chamomile tea. Boil enough water for one cup and place a chamomile tea bag into the water. Let the tea bag sit in the water for a few minutes. Now you can either pour it over your hair several times, catching it in a container each time or you can use a paint brush to apply it to your hair. This helps to control it from running down your shirt. You can also put a towel around your neck if it's too messy. Do this every day and your hair will lighten.

Henna. The most common natural hair dye is henna. You have to be careful with henna though. Some companies add unnatural ingredients to the henna that may damage your hair. Make sure you are selective when choosing your henna hair dye. All natural henna has a reddish orange tone to it. It fortifies and strengthens your hair. It makes it thicker and mends split ends. It's India's secret for thick, long, lustrous hair.

Make Your Hair Grow With Herbs

If you want your hair to be longer, thicker, and more healthy, there are plenty of herbs you can use to achieve this. Your hair grows at the rate of about half an inch per month. If you are lucky, in one year your hair will be six inches longer than it is right now. If you are just too impatient for this, you may want to try using herbs to help with hair growth and health.

Coconut oil is great for healthy hair growth. Other oils only sit on the outside of your hair, but coconut oil actually soaks into your hair shaft allowing deep conditioning to take place. It benefits your hair whether you take it internally or apply it to your hair externally. In fact, you may want to do both. You should take coconut oil capsules every day and when needed, apply it to your hair for a deep condition.

Coconut oil contains many oils that nourish and strengthen hair. Your hair becomes damaged with regular shampooing and the use of other chemicals on the hair. Coconut oil can protect your hair and repair the damage. Massaging the scalp with coconut oil once a week is a good way to promote hair growth.

For thicker hair, use licorice. Men can use Saw Palmetto if they are experiencing baldness. It is the most common herb to use in men for hair loss. Nettle can get rid of dandruff, which could be a problem that causes some hair loss. Ginseng is also used by men who may be experiencing baldness.

Hair, Skin, and Nails Vitamins

People tend to use vitamins on the outer surface of the hair, skin, and nails in order to make them grow and become more shiny, but did you know that the best way is to nourish them is by taking vitamins and herbs internally?

You can make your hair grow and glow by taking coconut oil. Coconut oil contains essential fatty acids and oils which cause your hair, skin, and nails to become youthful and vibrant. You will notice a difference very fast with these supplements.

A great way to take your makeup off is to use an oil like avocado oil. Instead of using unnatural products which may age your skin more, use this oil on your skin at night. Avocado oil can help get rid of wrinkles naturally and help your skin glow.

Taking fish oil will help your hair, skin, and nails look great. When you add this supplement, you will see that your skin is more bright and soft.

Add herbal products to your daily beauty routine and you will see a huge difference. You may not need to even use some products anymore because these products will correct flaws. Also, these products are more cheap than most department store beauty products and they work even better.
