Caffeine Side Effects

Caffeine, like what you would find in black coffee, can help to increase your metabolism and endurance. It also has many side effects. The side effects of caffeine are almost the same as the side effects of guarana. That is because guarana contains a lot of caffeine.

Many people in the U.S. especially are accustomed to caffeine-filled diets. They build up tolerance so they are less likely to experience any negative effects from caffeine. There are those who are caffeine sensitive and I wouldn't recommend them to take caffeine.

If you decide to take a caffeine supplement for weight loss, you should cut back on the other caffeine you take during the day like coffee and sodas. Too much caffeine can cause many side effects that are unpleasant and also some serious side effects.

Some side effects of caffeine include:
  • Headaches
  • Sleeplessness
  • Anxiety or nervousness
  • Increased heart rate
  • Vomiting
  • Upset stomach
If you take a lot of caffeine, you could experience:
  • Chest pain
  • Ringing sound in your ears
  • Moodiness
  • Anxiety
Caffeine can make those who suffer with insomnia have an even more difficult time falling asleep. If you have chronic insomnia, you may choose another metabolism boosting herb to help you such as apple cider vinegar or cinnamon. There are many weight loss herbs to choose from. You can find a list when you click the "Weight Loss Herbs" tab at the top of the page.

If you are pregnant or nursing, you are limited to 200 mg of caffeine per day. If you take more than that, you risk having a miscarriage. While you are breast-feeding, it's not wise to take in caffeine. Your baby is too small to be addicted to something that strong at an early age.

If you have any type of anxiety disorder, you may aggravate it with an increase in caffeine consumption. Be careful with how much caffeine you consume. You should also think about taking valerian root for your anxiety because it works very well.

There has been a case about a man with bi-polar disorder who took too much caffeine and suffered serious side effects. Of course anyone who takes too much caffeine will suffer. Being bi-polar is no exception to this.

Practice caution when using caffeine if you have glaucoma, a bleeding disorder, diabetes, or any heart condition. Caffeine may have a worse effect on these conditions.

Taking caffeine may raise blood pressure, so be careful with caffeine consumption if you already have high blood pressure to begin with. If your body is used to caffeine, it most likely won't raise your blood pressure.

Caffeine causes weak bones especially in the elderly. You should limit your daily intake of caffeine and also you should take a calcium supplement for bone health.
