Home Remedies For Insomnia

I am having trouble sleeping and sleeping pills aren't working. What are some things I can do to help me sleep?

There are plenty of things you can do. Before it's time to sleep, begin to do things that would usually get you in the mood to sleep like dimming the lights. It's proven that your body relates low lighting to sleeping and it will help you get in that mood.

You should avoid using this time to go online. The internet is a vast area of just stuff that really wastes time and it can even cause insomnia in people simply because they would rather be online than sleep. If you normally spend your nights online and you have trouble sleeping, this could be your biggest problem. If you would use that time to read, I guarantee you would get sleep 10 times faster than if you were online.

So you dim the lights and read. You should also make sure you have a side table light shinning on the book because you don't want to ruin your eyes. Make yourself a cup of chamomile tea. It makes you every sleepy. A supplement you can try is valerian root. It's very powerful in helping people sleep.

If you find that you have too many thoughts running through you head, you may want to start journaling before bed. You can buy a journal and write about your thoughts. Once those thoughts are on paper, you would be surprised at how fast you can organize them into something that makes sense to you and begin solving issues.

If you have a lot of stress in your life that is causing you sleep problems, try using a Chinese herb called ashwagandha. It's great for treating stress.
