Your Water May Cause Hair Damage

You may be doing everything possible to protect your hair from damage. You may vow never to use heat on your hair, switch to a natural shampoo, and stop brushing your hair when wet. You can spend so much time on oil treatments, but you may be overlooking one important thing. Your water at home may be causing damage to your hair.

Shower water contains many chemicals and heavy metals. It's not very good to drink this water and it's also not good to put it on your hair. The heavy metals especially may build up over time and cause your hair to break and split. These things stay in the hair unless you do something about it. So what can you do?

The least expensive thing to do would be to use vinegar on your hair. Pour a tablespoon of vinegar into a cup of filtered water and pour over your hair in the shower. Wait a few minutes and rinse the vinegar out. The vinegar will remove build up and impurities from your hair. You should do this about once a week.

The next thing you can do is use only filtered water to wash your hair. This is a little more expensive and definitely an inconvenience. Pouring bottled or filtered water over your hair while washing will limit the amount of chemicals and metals your hair will come in contact with.

If you don't want the inconvenience of bringing filtered water to your shower and pouring it over your head every time, you can put a filter on your shower head. This is probably the most expensive solution to this problem, but if you're serious about having healthy hair you might consider it. It will filter the water for you as the water comes out which will make it a lot more convenient.
