Black cohosh is a great plant, especially for women. It is most known for it's help with the menstrual cycle and menopause symptoms. Now you will learn how to grow your very own black cohosh.
First, be aware that black cohosh can get up to 6 feet tall. It's always important to know how big you can expect a plant to get over time. It has flowers that bloom in the summer months. It is quite easy to grow also.
It is recommended to plant the seeds in the fall. Get some pots for indoors and plant your black cohosh seeds. You want to make sure they can get sunlight for most hours of the day. The place that you keep them should be dry and warm and very sunny.
Water your black cohosh seeds once a week only.
In the spring, you will need to take them outside. The area that you choose to take them is important. You need to make sure it's a place that will have morning sunlight, but afternoon shade. This is very important and may require some work on your part to figure out the best area.
Prepare the soil. Once you have found the perfect place that gets sun only in the morning, you will need to prepare the soil. Buy some manure and mix it into the soil well.
Make sure you wait to transplant them in the spring time. Dig a hole that will be big enough for the whole root to fit. Now just put the plant in the hole and cover up. You have successfully transplanted your black cohosh plant.
Now after you have brought the plant outside, your watering schedule will change. You will now water the black cohosh plants three times a week. This will last throughout the warm months. Don't allow the soil to get dry. Since your plants are receiving sunlight only in the morning, watering 3 times a week should be enough to keep them from drying out.
In the winter, you will go back to watering once per week.
