The main vitamins you should be concerned about are those that are fat soluble. They stay in your system until your body uses them, so they can add up over time. You can get too much of these vitamins, which is why you should make sure you are not overdosing or taking too many products that contain these vitamins.
The fat soluble vitamins are vitamins A, D, E, and K. It's important to get these vitamins, but you don't want to get too much because your body does store what you don't need of these vitamins and these are the main ones that you can overdose on. You have to think of all the places you get these vitamins from.
Do you eat fruit or vegetables? Do you eat breakfast cereals and bars? Do you consume dairy products? What about healthy cooking oils like olive oil? These vitamins are in a lot of foods that we eat. The only time you should supplement is if you know you are not getting enough of these.
You should check the herbs you are taking to see if they contain these vitamins. Try to limit taking two herbs that may make you go over the daily limit.
If you are taking any prescription medications or if you know you will have surgery soon, I would advise that you find out if you supplements with interact with any of you prescriptions or cause complications with surgery.
You just have to do some reading about your specific supplements. Some people may think it's okay to take many supplements at once, but you should definitely check especially if you are taking prescription medications or if you have a certain medical condition.
