Choline Side Effects

Choline is a great supplement that will help your body stay healthy and assists in the metabolism of fat. There are some side effects of taking too much choline. There are also some issues when you do not get enough choline in your body.

If you become choline deficient, this can lead to malfunction of the liver and other liver conditions. The good thing is, choline can be found in many foods, so that prevents most people from experiencing a choline deficiency.

You should take no more than 3.5 grams of choline per day. Now, if you take too much choline, there will be some side effects such as:
  • Dizziness
  • Fishy smell from your body
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Sweating
  • Diarrhea
If you are pregnant or nursing, it is safe to take choline in normal amounts. You may take 3 grams per day.

If you get choline in your diet (which I'm sure you do), then you may take a choline supplement that only provides enough for you to reach your daily limit of 3.5 grams. This will help to aid in fat metabolism and make sure you are getting plenty of choline for your body without taking too much.

Choline Weight Loss

Choline is a complex made of B vitamins and an organic nutrient compound. It is used for weight loss. There are many choline supplements and other supplements that contain choline that are used for weight loss. Here are the ways choline can help you with weight loss:
  • Metabolizes fat
  • Prevents over-worked, fatty liver
  • Helps prevent fat build-up in the body and blood stream
Choline helps to burn extra fat. It prevents the build-up of fat in the liver. If your liver is over-worked and "fatty", your metabolism will slow down. If you have recently cleansed your liver and you want to keep it clean, you may use choline for maintenance. This will prevent your liver from building up fats and slowing down your metabolism again.

Choline can be found in many different foods. You can find choline in egg, cabbage, nuts, lentils and other common foods. If you are taking choline to assist in weight loss, it's best to take a supplement. I don't see why it wouldn't work. B vitamins are well-known for their metabolism boosting effects.

Choline is also called Lipotrope and it's sold in supplement form. You can find different brands at Swanson Vitamins ranging from $5-$10.
