Nettle Side Effects

Nettle is used to treat many conditions. It's also a great diuretic for weight loss. There are some side effects of nettle that you should be aware of though.

There are some mild side effects that are possible when using nettle such as:
  • Mild digestive upset
  • Sweating
  • Increased urination

These side effects are mild and are not likely to occur, but there is still a chance that you may experience them. If you touch the plant, a slight skin irritation is possible.

If you are diabetic, you should be careful because nettle can alter blood sugar levels. You may want to ask your doctor before you begin taking stinging nettle supplements.

If you are pregnant, it's best if you do not take nettle. Nettle can cause you to have a miscarriage. When you are beast-feeding, also do not take nettle because the effects on infants are unknown. Females may experience changes in their menstrual cycle with the use of nettle.

If you have bladder control issues or kidney problems, you may not want to take nettle because it's a diuretic. It increases urination because it helps to get rid of extra bloating and water weight.

Nettle can alter blood pressure, so if you are taking blood pressure medication or a blood thinner, it may be best if you do not take nettle.

If you are taking medications for minimizing inflammation, talk to your doctor before deciding to supplement with nettle.

Nettle Weight Loss

Nettle is an herb that has been used for weight loss. It's full of vitamins and minerals. It's great when used as a tea or in capsule form. Here is how nettle can help with weight loss:
  • Regulates blood sugar
  • Suppresses appetite
  • Gets rid of bloating

Nettle helps to rid the body of extra water, which can make you feel bloated and puffy. Most people have about 15 lbs of extra water causing them difficulty when trying to fit into clothes. Nettle is a great diuretic and can solve this issue.

Nettle has been proven to control blood sugar levels. When you eat junk, your blood sugar will go crazy. You will have unwanted cravings about 2 hours after you eat and you will also store fat because of excess insulin. Nettle can regulate blood sugar, which helps fight cravings and fat storage.

Nettle also suppresses the appetite, because when your body doesn't get enough vitamins and nutrients, you tend to be hungry a lot. It's your body's way of telling you that you need to give it more nutrients. Nettle contains the following vitamins and nutrients:
  • Calcium
  • Vitamins C, E
  • Silica
  • Iron
  • Magnesium

Nettle's best contribution to weight loss would have to be it's diuretic effect. If you feel like you probably have extra bloating that is causing you difficulty, give nettle a try. It can help you get rid of those extra pounds.
