Green Tea Side Effects

There may be some side effects of green tea that you should know about. You should always read about the risks before adding anything different to your daily routine. If you are taking regular amounts of green tea (no more than 5 cups a day or maximum amount of capsules), there will only be side effects for those who are caffeine sensitive.

If you take too much green tea, you may experience the following side effects:
  • Sleeplessness
  • Headaches
  • Diarrhea
  • Irritability
  • Nervousness
  • Vomiting
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Dizziness
  • Confusion
Do not take more than the recommended dosage of green tea.

If you are pregnant, only take about 2 cups a day or 200 mg capsules. If you want to stay on the safe side, just leave it out of your routine until you are finished with pregnancy and nursing.

If you are anemic, green tea may worsen your condition. If you tend to have anxiety, green tea might aggravate that also.

If you have some sort of bleeding disorder, do not take green tea. If you have weak bones, do not take green tea. If you have liver disease, do not take green tea. If you have a heart condition, be careful with caffeine consumption. If your body is used to caffeine, you will most likely be just fine.

I think these side effects are being a little liberal. I take green tea every single day. For those who are used to tea and soda, you will have no problem with green tea. Most of these claims are because of the caffeine, but if you have a high caffeine tolerance, there will be no issue.
