What Is Safflower Oil?

Safflower oil comes from the safflower plant. There are two types of safflower oil:
  • One with high oleic acid (monounsaturated fatty acids)
  • One with high linoleic acid (polyunsaturated fatty acids)
The most nutritional safflower oil out of the two is high linoleic safflower oil. Safflower oil is low in saturated fat. It's a "good fat" which can be used to fight bad fat. You can replace your regular cooking oil with safflower oil or begin taking a safflower oil supplement to receive the benefits.

Safflower oil has been shown to help with weight loss. In a study, participants lost belly fat from using safflower oil. They did not diet or exercise. For 16 weeks they took safflower oil and were able to lose weight.

Safflower oil has the following health benefits:
  • Weight loss (belly fat in particular)
  • Reduced cholesterol
  • Hair and nail growth/skin health
  • Controlled blood sugar

Safflower oil can be found in supplement form. You don't have to take a supplement to see results though. If you normally use a cooking oil like vegetable oil that is high in saturated fat, just switching over to safflower oil would give you great results when it comes to fat loss.

Healthy fats and oils are very good for the body. They prevent cravings of bad fats and help burn the fat deposits on your body.
