These side effects go away once your body is used to the extra fiber. There are ways to minimize these side effects. You can introduce the fiber to your body more slowly. Do not take a full dose at first. Drink extra water throughout the day. Make sure you drink at least a full glass of water when taking fenugreek.
Another common side effects with fenugreek is your urine or body may start to smell like maple syrup. I personally like the smell of maple syrup. It doesn't stink. This is something you will likely experience from the addition of fenugreek.
An allergic reaction is possible. If you start to feel different signs of an allergic reaction, you should not use fenugreek. This includes wheezing, swelling, and coughing.
Many women have probably heard that fenugreek helps you to produce breast milk more easily. You should not take fenugreek while you are still pregnant. It could cause a miscarriage. If you want to use fenugreek for your breast milk, you should begin taking it after you have already given birth.
There is a disease called maple syrup disease that children and infants are diagnosed with sometimes. Just remember that if you are taking fenugreek for breast milk, this will most likely make your baby smell like maple syrup. This could lead to a false diagnosis.
Children should not drink fenugreek tea.
Remember that if you are diabetic, fenugreek does effect blood sugar so be careful if you do decide to begin taking fenugreek. Monitor yourself often.
Do not take more than the recommended dosage of fenugreek. You should not take more than 8 grams per day. If you take up to 100 grams a day, you may risk having extreme distress in your digestive tract.
If you are taking fenugreek and you notice any severe side effects, discontinue use and contact your doctor. Severe side effects are not very common. Pay attention to your body.
