Fenugreek Side Effects

Fenugreek is a wonderful herb used for many healthy benefits, including weight loss. You may want to know about some possible side effects of fenugreek before you purchase this supplement. Fenugreek contains soluble fiber. When you add a fiber supplement to your daily routine, you may notice some uncomfortable side effects at first but eventually they will go away. These side effects are:
  • Bloating
  • Gas
  • Upset stomach
  • Loose stools
These side effects go away once your body is used to the extra fiber. There are ways to minimize these side effects. You can introduce the fiber to your body more slowly. Do not take a full dose at first. Drink extra water throughout the day. Make sure you drink at least a full glass of water when taking fenugreek.

Another common side effects with fenugreek is your urine or body may start to smell like maple syrup. I personally like the smell of maple syrup. It doesn't stink. This is something you will likely experience from the addition of fenugreek.

An allergic reaction is possible. If you start to feel different signs of an allergic reaction, you should not use fenugreek. This includes wheezing, swelling, and coughing.

Many women have probably heard that fenugreek helps you to produce breast milk more easily. You should not take fenugreek while you are still pregnant. It could cause a miscarriage. If you want to use fenugreek for your breast milk, you should begin taking it after you have already given birth.

There is a disease called maple syrup disease that children and infants are diagnosed with sometimes. Just remember that if you are taking fenugreek for breast milk, this will most likely make your baby smell like maple syrup. This could lead to a false diagnosis.

Children should not drink fenugreek tea.

Remember that if you are diabetic, fenugreek does effect blood sugar so be careful if you do decide to begin taking fenugreek. Monitor yourself often.

Do not take more than the recommended dosage of fenugreek. You should not take more than 8 grams per day. If you take up to 100 grams a day, you may risk having extreme distress in your digestive tract.

If you are taking fenugreek and you notice any severe side effects, discontinue use and contact your doctor. Severe side effects are not very common. Pay attention to your body.

Fenugreek Extract Weight Loss

Fenugreek seed extract is used to help with many conditions. One of those just happens to be weight loss. If you need to lose weight, fenugreek can be very helpful for you. It has many good qualities that make it a great weight loss herb. Fenugreek can do the following:
  • Make you feel full
  • Detoxify
  • Aide in better digestion
  • Minimize cellulite
  • Regulate blood sugar
  • Slow gastric emptying
  • Reduces absorption of fat
Fenugreek contains soluble fiber. Fiber is so important for weight loss. Many people do not get enough fiber. Fiber helps to make you feel full, so you are likely to eat less. Fiber goes through your digestive tract and cleans up the toxins that can prevent weight loss.

Fenugreek helps you have better, more efficient digestion which helps with weight loss. It also minimizes cellulite on your body. Fenugreek helps to regulate blood sugar. When your blood sugar is unstable (which is the case with most people who eat "junk" food), you will store fat. Fenugreek prevents that from happening.

It also helps your stomach to empty out more slowly after you eat. This will help keep you from being hungry two hours later. Also, fenugreek prevents your body from absorbing some of the fats that you consume.

A study with fenugreek was conducted. The participants took fenugreek or a placebo with their breakfast. Those who took 8 grams of fenugreek felt full even 3 1/2 hours after breakfast. The fiber in fenugreek can help keep you fuller longer so you will end up eating less throughout the day.

There are some great prices ranging from $2 all the way up to $20. Always look for the best price and compare the mg of each product. Remember that this study included 8 grams of fenugreek per day.
