Cinnamon Side Effects

If you are thinking of adding a cinnamon supplement, you may want to assess the risks of side effects first. If you know that you have an ulcer, you should not take large doses of cinnamon. Cinnamon could aggravate the lining of your stomach if you have an ulcer.

Pregnant and nursing women are encouraged to not take a cinnamon supplement. If you take Tylenol or any other blood thinning medication, you should not take cinnamon because it will cause uncontrollable bleeding if you have an accident.

If there is a sore or ulcer in your mouth, then you may feel some pain if you take cinnamon. You will be fine if you take cinnamon capsules though. Cinnamon may speed up the heart. This is because cinnamon improves circulation of blood and creates heat in the body.

Never ingest essential oil of cinnamon. Only ingest cinnamon that is made to go inside your body. You can find cinnamon in capsule form or powder for sprinkling over desserts.

If you have kidney disease or a kidney illness, you should not take cinnamon because it may cause kidney failure. Anyone can be allergic to cinnamon, so if you develop symptoms of an allergy such as itching, watery eyes, rashes, etc. seek medical attention.
